UK universities given green light to offer more two-year degrees
1 February 2019
The UK government has approved the expansion of two-year degree options for international students from September 2019.
Legislation passed by the House of Lords, part of the UK parliament, means that international students will be able to opt for two-year degree courses for the first time. The shorter study time of two-year degrees means that students will save on an average 20% on tuition fees as compared to a traditional three-year undergraduate programme. The shorter two-year degree will offer the same qualification as a three-year programme, but delivered over a more intensive, shorter period of time.
Universities Minister Chris Skidmore said: "For thousands of future students wanting a faster pace of learning and a faster route into the workplace at a lower overall cost, two-year degrees will transform their choices."
